I was going to get a laser printer with an ADF ( auto document feeder). Most have only a bed scanner. Which is a pain in the _____ for scanning multiple docs. If they did have an ADF it scanned in fax quality only. This scanner has good enough quality for pictures. So instead of having two printers, one for digital photos and other home projects and another for the office printing I only need one. The printer I use for home ( a Canon Pixma ) is an ink hog. The office jet lasts way longer. I was going through two black cartriges a week. The Officejet 8500 black lasted two weeks and the 940 XL black has been in the printer for a month and the ink usage shows to still have half left.It isn't that hard to set up like one reviewer said. It goes through a self setup mode at first that takes a while but that is only on the very first start-up. It prints a lot faster than my Canon. Wireless set up was easy. It found my router instantly, I did however have to make some firewall changes to work. AVG blocks it unless you go into the firewall settings.My only complaint is that it would be nice if the printing software would recognize a different paper size in the second bay, like legal in tray 1 and letter in tray 2.
